Sentences of the day: radio hooligan, scammers and fictitious bankrupt on trial

Several high-profile verdicts are expected to be handed down in Moscow courts on Monday, August 18.

As MK has learned, the Meshchansky Court is expected to announce the verdict on former CEO of the National Development Company Konstantin Remizov, businessman Alexander Egorov and lawyer Alexander Semushkin. All of them are accused of complicity in fictitious bankruptcy and falsification of evidence. Remizov was previously sentenced to 7 years and 10 months in prison for embezzlement during the construction of the Skolkovo Residence residential complex.

The Khoroshevsky Court will announce the verdict for Alexey Zhirovkin, who is accused of fraud. This case has been going on since 2011, when the suspect was put on the international wanted list. According to the investigation, Zhirovkin illegally credited bonuses to bonus cards, which were then used to purchase office equipment in M-Video stores. The verdict will be handed down in absentia.

The Preobrazhensky Court will announce the verdict for Valentin Bushuev, known as the "radio hooligan." Bushuev has been on the air for a long time as a radio amateur and has been disseminating offensive information using obscene language. He is being tried for violating the right to freedom of conscience and religion, as well as for inciting hatred or hostility on the basis of nationality with the threat of violence.

The Dorogomilovsky Court will re-examine the case of Sergei Stadnik, Vyacheslav Mandrikov and Alexei Graf, accused of fraud with MTPL policies. They were accused of selling counterfeit insurance policies. According to investigators, 196 citizens suffered from their actions, and the amount of damage exceeded 1.6 million rubles. The first sentence against them was handed down in June 2024, the accused received from 5 to 12 years in prison, but then the sentence was overturned due to numerous violations.
