Pilot program for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis extended

The Ministry of Health is extending the pilot program for outpatient treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. According to the draft regulation, the program's implementation period will be extended from 36 to 45 months. This means that instead of ending on September 30, 2025, it will end on June 30, 2026.
As indicated in the project's justification, the decision is related to the current epidemiological situation observed by the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, confirmed by data from the national tuberculosis registry. Extending the implementation time will allow for the collection of additional data necessary to design a targeted treatment system for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and ensure the continuity of patient services.
The change also introduces a new evaluation schedule. Previously, it was supposed to take place after the program's conclusion; now it will be conducted concurrently throughout its duration. This is intended to expedite the analysis of the effectiveness of the activities and allow for any necessary adjustments to be made while the pilot is still in progress.
The regulation is to enter into force the day after its publication in the Journal of Laws, without the standard 14-day vacatio legis. The Ministry argues this is due to the need to begin the evaluation process as soon as possible and the absence of obstacles arising from the principles of a democratic state ruled by law.
