A niche luxury watch brand releases a new model. It features a rainbow dial and a unique destro layout.

Although only established in 2017, MING has already established itself as one of the most exciting players in the world of independent watchmaking. To celebrate its eighth anniversary, the company is presenting the 57.04 Iris – its first destro-style chronograph.

An eighth birthday is a good time for something special, and that's exactly what MING did with the 57.04 Iris . It's the first chronograph in the manufacturer's history to feature a destro layout, with the pusher and crown on the left . This design will be appreciated by left-handed people, but also by anyone who appreciates unusual watchmaking ideas.

An independent brand with its own language - MING

MING is a relatively new player on the market – founded in 2017 by photographer and collector Ming Thein . From the outset, it has distinguished itself with its approach to design: instead of copying classics, it has created its own stylistic language. MING watches are minimalist yet recognizable, often limited editions and available in limited quantities. Sounds tempting, right?

Design that plays with light - 57.04 Iris by MING

The 57.04 Iris introduces the fifth generation of MING design. The 40mm steel case combines polished and satin-finished elements. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal lies a dial coated with " Iris ," which, as the name suggests , shimmers turquoise, purple, and blue depending on the light . The first association? Iridescence , a phenomenon observed on a thin layer of oil or gasoline on water.

The intricate indexes, filled with Polar White luminescent material, appear to float above the dial.

The distinctive, multi-element lugs of the case add a sculptural character to the whole, and water resistance to 100 meters allows you to wear the watch without any major restrictions.

The mechanism in the destro system - the 57.04 Iris watch from MING

At the heart of the 57.04 Iris is a modified Sellita Cal. SW562.M1 movement – a monopusher chronograph operated by a single pusher. Thanks to the destro layout, the pusher and crown are located on the left side , making the watch easier to use for both left-handed and non-left-handed individuals. At six o'clock is a 30-minute counter, made using a sandwich construction and featuring luminescent material for improved readability.

Three-quarters of the movement plates are coated in 4N color, which contrasts with the anthracite background.

Only 100 copies of "Iris" were produced and its price is 6,250 Swiss francs.
