Bathroom renovations can be a significant expense, especially when you need to adapt them to the needs of a disabled person. Fortunately, you can get funding from PFRON. It covers up to 95% of the costs, and the maximum amount of support is PLN 50,000.

Who can apply for a bathroom renovation subsidy? Where to apply? And what documents will be needed? Details are available at RynekZdrowia.pl.

Bathroom co-financing from PFRON - for whom?

The following persons may benefit from the funding:

  • persons with a disability certificate,
  • caregivers of children with disabilities.

This is because the aim of this support is to eliminate architectural barriers that make everyday functioning difficult, such as the lack of a properly adapted shower, grab bars, ramps or specialist equipment in the bathroom.

How much is the subsidy for bathroom renovation in 2025?

The amount of funding depends on the applicant's housing status. People who are not owners of the premises can receive up to PLN 15,000, which covers a maximum of 80 percent of the costs.

Apartment owners or perpetual users can count on a maximum of PLN 30,000 for the purchase and installation of specialist equipment and up to PLN 50,000 for the removal of architectural barriers (maximum 95 percent of costs).

Families with a disabled child are also eligible for funding of up to PLN 50,000.

In each case, the applicant must cover at least 5 percent of the renovation costs from their own pocket.

What can bathroom renovation funding be spent on?

The subsidy money can be used, among other things, for the installation of handles and handrails, installation of a threshold-free shower, purchase of specialist equipment (e.g. lifts), installation of platforms and ramps.

It is important that all work is aimed at improving the comfort and safety of the person with a disability.

Where and how to submit an application?

The application should be submitted to the District Family Assistance Center (PCPR) competent for the place of residence. The documents must be accompanied by a certificate of disability, a statement of income, and the consent of the owner of the apartment (if the applicant is not the owner of the premises).

When considering the application, PCPR may also take into account any arrears owed to PFRON, the history of previous funding agreements – especially those terminated due to the applicant’s fault.
