The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) announces a call for applications for the "Promotion of the Polish Language" program. PLN 2.4 million has been allocated to finance projects that will strengthen the teaching of Polish as a foreign language and influence a positive image of Poland in the world. Applications can be submitted until July 31.
As stated in a press release sent to PAP on Monday, the programme will finance projects implemented in Poland and abroad that will contribute to the popularisation of Polish as a foreign language, strengthening the quality of its teaching and reaching a wide audience.
"Creative activities that are well-suited to the needs of target groups will be particularly valued. Innovative projects that have not been implemented by the applicant to date in the proposed scope or scale, as well as initiatives implemented abroad, will be preferred," we read in the release.
Polish universities and scientific institutions working to promote the Polish language at the academic level can apply for funding under the program. As stated, the project can be carried out independently by one institution, but preference will be given to projects carried out in international partnership, for example with foreign universities and scientific institutions.
In the previous six editions of the programme, 91 projects were implemented with the participation of 136 partners from 32 countries (including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Tanzania and the USA).
Among Polish participants, the largest number of projects were implemented by: University of Silesia in Katowice (13), University of Warsaw (12), Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (10), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (9 each).
Applications can be submitted exclusively via the NAWA IT system until July 31. More information on the NAWA website.
Established in 2017, NAWA works for the internationalization of Polish science by supporting and stimulating international research cooperation and academic exchange. It strives to internationalize Polish universities and scientific institutions, as well as to promote Polish culture and language. The agency's task is also to disseminate information about the Polish science and higher education system. NAWA is supervised by the Minister of Science. (PAP)
