It will be road armageddon. Up to 7 months of difficulties for drivers

- Renovation work on the Grunwaldzki Bridge in Kraków will begin next Saturday.
- For the next few months neither cars nor trams will be able to use it.
- The bridge needs to be renovated. Expertise has shown that in its current state it can be used until 2038 at the most.
As reported by the city council, due to the closure of the Grunwaldzki Bridge in Kraków , a temporary stop will be built on Monte Cassino Street, in the area of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, which will enable trams to run in both directions. The tram line will run from Kapelanka Street, through Monte Cassino Street to the ICE Kraków Congress Centre.
Trams and buses will have to find an alternative to the Grunwaldzki BridgeFrom Dietla Street, trams will be redirected to Krakowska Street. Additionally, on Dietla Street, before the bridge, there will be a possibility of turning around for vehicles that will not be able to continue towards Kazimierz due to the closure of the bridge.
Closing the bridge means that tram and bus traffic will have to be redirected via Kalwaryjska/Limanowskiego Street to Krakowska/Starowiślna Street, where the lines will return to their permanent routes.
As part of the works, replacement transport will be introduced. The tram line will run from "Czerwone Maków P+R" to "Ronda Grunwaldzkie", while the bus line will run from Łagiewniki via Rondo Grunwaldzkie to the loop in Powiśle - "Nowy Świat". During the works, in order to maintain access to the "Orzeszkowa" stop, line no. 784 will be created as an extension of the route of bus no. 184.

The suggested detour route for vehicular traffic will lead along the city's third ring road, i.e. al. Powstańców Śląskich and ul. Powstańców Wielkopolskich. In order for this solution to be functional, it will be necessary to modify the traffic lights at the Grunwaldzkie roundabout, the Mateczny roundabout and in the area of the "Korona" stop. In turn, the traffic lights on ul. Stradomska, ul. Dietla and ul. Krakowska will be switched off.
Vehicles entering Krakow from the north via al. 29 Listopada will be directed to ul. Wita Stwosza, ul. Lubomirskiego, to the Mogilskie roundabout and then to the Grzegórzeckie roundabout.
