European countries that do not require a visa: requirements you must meet to visit them

Colombian citizens can travel without a visa to the 29 countries in the Schengen Area, provided they demonstrate that they are traveling for tourism, visiting family or friends, or business , and that their stay will not exceed 90 days in each country. However, this visa exemption does not imply the absence of other requirements that must be met to avoid inconveniences during the trip.
Among the requirements mentioned by the Colombian Foreign Ministry are: having a valid passport; demonstrating financial solvency to cover travel expenses; presenting round-trip tickets; and having a reservation or invitation letter. Additionally, it is advisable to have international medical insurance that covers possible eventualities during your stay in the Schengen Area, as reported by the Huffington Post.
It's important to note that, although a visa is not required, immigration authorities in Schengen Area countries may request these documents upon entry. See more: Do you know people who are too nice? There's a syndrome that makes them that way.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also emphasized that the visa exemption applies only to short-term stays, i.e., up to 90 days within a 180-day period . For longer stays or for other purposes, such as study or work, it is necessary to apply for the appropriate visa before travel.
Additionally, starting in 2025, Colombians will be required to obtain the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) travel authorization before entering the Schengen Area.
In short, although Colombians can travel to the Schengen Area without a visa for short periods, they must meet certain requirements and be aware of changes in immigration policies, such as the implementation of the ETIAS.
