The Mediterranean diet may protect against type 2 diabetes

A Mediterranean-style diet may significantly reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes in people who are overweight or obese, a recent study suggests.
People were 31 percent less likely to develop diabetes if they followed a Mediterranean diet, reduced their calories, and exercised regularly, researchers reported in the August 25 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
