It reduces cholesterol when consumed 4 cups a day: It is also effective in reducing inflammation and stress.

According to Dr. Bond, polyphenol compounds, particularly flavan-3-ols, have positive effects in many areas, from balancing blood pressure to reducing the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. These compounds can reduce the risk of chronic diseases by 19 percent and the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by 13 percent.

Dr. Bond said, “The American Academy of Nutrition recommends taking 400-600 mg of flavan-3-ols daily for heart and metabolic health. This is equivalent to about four cups of tea per day.”
A notable study showed that consuming one to four cups of tea per day lowered blood pressure. Black tea was particularly effective in individuals with heart disease risk factors, such as high homocysteine levels. The flavonoids in tea were also found to have a cholesterol-lowering effect.

The analysis, reported in the Mirror, also revealed that tea improves blood sugar levels and supports insulin management – a significant finding given the link between diabetes and heart disease.
The research also revealed low public awareness. According to the survey of 1,000 people, three-quarters of participants care about heart health, while only one-third believe tea can be beneficial in this regard.
Dr. Bond recommended regular consumption of tea, saying, "We often overlook such a simple way to protect our hearts. Three to four cups of tea a day provide 400 to 600 mg of flavan-3-ols, which help reduce inflammation and stress in our body and vascular system."
