According to the ABN-24 portal, an international team of scientists has proposed an innovative approach to coal processing that allows for the production of polycyclic aromatic compounds and resins, which opens up new horizons for the chemical industry.
Instead of traditional combustion, coal is dissolved in special environments, which allows the creation of modern materials with a wide range of applications. The efficiency of converting raw materials into useful products reaches 97.5%.
In modern oil refining, the share of hard-to-reach and high-sulfur oil is growing, the processing of which is associated with great difficulties and costs. In this regard, coal, previously used mainly in the energy sector, is considered as a potential alternative to oil raw materials.
The coal undergoes a process of destruction, resulting in a liquid product rich in polyaromatic hydrocarbons. The amount of residual waste is minimal – only 8%. This indicates the high environmental friendliness of the technology.
Previously, the scientific community recorded a unique geological formation, called the Dani plume. This is an ascending flow of magma, rising from the depths of the Earth to its surface.
