They want to manage difficult construction waste

It's estimated that 99% of construction waste ends up in landfills instead of being recycled. This demonstrates the scale of the problem and the need to implement real changes in the approach to managing this type of waste.

The Recobud project was created in response to these needs. This solution supports construction sector participants in managing waste in a sustainable manner, simplifies the process, and can be successfully implemented on a larger scale.

The project's foundation is a circular model – collecting, sorting, and recycling selected waste fractions – PVC windows from dismantling. Thanks to the use of modern technologies, both the material from which individual window joinery components are made and the glazing units can be processed and reused. Recycled PVC granulate can be used as a raw material in the production of new window frames, and cullet can be used as a raw material in the production of float glass.

The Recobud project is the work of three companies united by their desire to make a real impact on reducing the consumption of natural resources. These are the Saint-Gobain Group, represented by Saint-Gobain Glass Polska (a manufacturer of flat glass), and Glassolutions (a supplier of insulating glass and glass solutions for window manufacturers, facade installers, and interior glass installation companies).

The Recobud project is also supported by Metal-Plast (a company dealing with the recycling of PVC waste from window joinery) and PreZero (an international provider of waste management and environmental protection services, with processing facilities, including waste recycling, and providing transport infrastructure).

Recycling 1 tonne of PVC allows for reducing CO2 emissions by 2 tonnes, and in the case of glass – by up to 700 kg.
