Pediatrician Ana Isabel Lopes, new clinical director of Santa Maria

Pediatrician Ana Isabel Fonseca Lopes will replace the current clinical director of Santa Maria Hospital, Rui Tato Marinho, an appointment that was approved at the last council of ministers meeting.

According to information accessed by Lusa, the Board of Directors of the Santa Maria Local Health Unit informed service directors and managers on Thursday of the appointment of the new clinical director of hospital health care and this Friday communicated internally to the entire institution.

Ana Isabel Lopes takes office starting this Friday.

A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, where she also completed her doctorate and directed the University Pediatrics Clinic, Ana Isabel Lopes specialized in Pediatrics at the Hospital de Santa Maria and at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with a sub-specialization in the area of ​​Pediatric Gastroenterology.

In recent years, the specialist has headed the Department of Pediatrics at ULS Santa Maria , in addition to having held various positions in scientific societies and clinical and academic functions internally.

In internal information, the Board of Directors of the ULS of Santa Maria thanks Rui Tato Marinho for the services provided to the institution during his term as clinical director.

This appointment culminates a replacement process that began before the summer.

The intention to replace Tato Marinho as clinical director of Santa Maria was revealed in July, after the case of the dermatologist who had received thousands of euros for additional work was made public.

At the time, the president of Santa Maria Hospital explained that the replacement of the clinical director was not related to the case and the unit added that the changes would also involve the replacement of the clinical director for primary health care, Eunice Carrapiço, who remains in office.
