Bela Gil reveals that Preta Gil intended to have another child; find out everything

Presenter Bela Gil stated that she offered to carry a child for her sister, singer Preta Gil, who wanted to have another child. The revelation came during the program Saia Justa, aired on Wednesday (August 13) on the GNT channel. Preta Gil passed away on July 20, 2025, after battling bowel cancer.
"There was a time when my sister wanted to have another child and started a process of freezing her eggs, but for some reason she wasn't going to be able to get pregnant, that the pregnancy would be high-risk, something like that," Bela declared during the program.
The presenter explained how the proposal to help her sister came about. "We talked to her, and she was always one to share her issues a lot, especially with her family, but then I said: 'Dude, but I can get pregnant for you,' and she said: 'Seriously? You would do that?' I said: 'Obviously!'" said Bela.
After offering herself as a surrogate mother, Bela researched the legality of the procedure in Brazil. She discovered that the process is permitted in the country under specific conditions.
"I didn't know if this would be legal, if it could be done in Brazil, because I know that in the United States surrogacy is legal, but I didn't know the legislation in Brazil. Here, you can do surrogacy, but the premise is that you don't get paid for it and that it can be done for people who are related up to the fourth degree and for same-sex couples," said the presenter.
Preta Gil was already the mother of musician Francisco Gil, her son from her relationship with actor Otávio Muller. Plans for a second child never materialized.
