Polish province subsidizes vacations. It doesn't work like a tourist voucher

Summer is just around the corner, and Poles are being tempted by holiday subsidies from every side. Unfortunately, it turns out that some of them do not work the way we think. We are talking about popular subsidies for charter flights, which are intended to promote some Polish regions. Such subsidies are offered, for example, by the Lubuskie province, which allocates them for flights to Marsa Alam, among others. However, this does not mean that tourists can count on cheaper holidays. This money is transferred to travelers indirectly - so it goes to the carriers themselves, who do not necessarily have to reduce their margins because of them.

Lubuskie will subsidize flights to Egypt

Even PLN 830 per passenger - this is how much the Lubuskie Province will pay for flights to Egypt. The Polish region will promote itself in this way on holiday connections, including to the resort of Marsa Alam, operated by Coral Travel. For this purpose, the Marshal's Office of the Lubuskie Province will allocate funds in the amount of PLN 4.7 million. That's not all, because in theory, cheaper holidays will be available to passengers flying from Zielona Góra to Albania (support in the amount of PLN 740,000), as well as to Tunisia (PLN 1.5 million) and to Turkey (PLN 701,000). In theory, because in practice, passengers will not benefit from these benefits.

Flight Subsidies – How Do They Really Work?

While these amounts may sound very promising, in practice the funds will go directly to travel agencies, not their customers. This is a way for tour operators tempted by the subsidies to use regional airports.

It is different in the case of tourist vouchers launched this year in Podlasie. These, although distributed for the same purpose, actually fill the wallets of the travelers themselves, while supporting regional entrepreneurs. However, this solution is also not without its flaws, as pointed out by tourists who tried unsuccessfully to obtain a voucher, but there were too many willing people.
