Masuria is preparing for an influx of tourists. The reason is not only the May Day holiday

The Lost Amber Room has been exciting treasure hunters in Masuria for years. Although the legendary place was never found, a replica was commissioned, which was first shown to tourists last weekend. Bartłomiej Plebańczyk from the Mamerki Museum talks about the huge success of the new attraction. "We had a full car park. People are already sending their friends photos, encouraging their friends to come," we read in an article in Gazeta Wyborcza. The owners of the facility are already preparing for another influx of visitors, which will be waiting for them on the May Day weekend.
The Amber Room is open to touristsThis year, Masuria will undoubtedly be the hit of the May Day weekend, and not only because of its natural assets. In Mamerki in the Węgorzewo commune, an attraction has opened that will attract both history buffs and lovers of beautiful interiors. Last weekend, they saw the Amber Room for the first time. Although it is unfortunately only a faithful replica of the interior lost during World War II, it made quite an impression on visitors.
Until now, Poles visited Mamerki and the museum here, as well as the nearby Wolf's Lair , mainly to see the well-preserved bunkers of the Third Reich. "While men wanted to see the bunkers and exhibitions related to the war for as long as possible, women usually quickly started to get bored. The Amber Room changed that and it is women who want to see it. However, everyone likes the building. People's jaws drop because it looks simply beautiful," says Bartłomiej Plebańczyk, the initiator of the replica's construction, in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza. "The passage from the dark bunker to the fairy-tale world makes a particularly big impression," adds the museum representative.
Mamerki is a hit for the May Day weekendThe interest exceeded the organizers, who say that the parking lot will be full on the first day of the exhibition. The museum hopes that this May Day weekend will be able to break more records, and thus at least partially cover the cost of building the facility. A ticket for an adult costs PLN 32, and for children and youth PLN 27.
Bartłomiej Plebańczyk covered the construction of the copy of the chamber from his own funds. Although it was ultimately decided to replace the amber with plastic mass, the construction of the facility, including the pavilion and equipment, cost three million złoty.
