La Isla Bonita from a New Perspective. The Canary Islands Are Preparing an Attraction That Will Take You on an Emotional Rollercoaster

La Palma, the pearl of the Canary Islands, is preparing for a major tourist revolution. Cable cars will soon be "hanging" over the volcanic landscape, offering views that you won't find anywhere else in Europe.
On one of the most beautiful Canary Islands – La Palma – a new attraction is being built that could completely change the way you visit the island. Local authorities are working on a concept for a cable car system that will offer panoramic views of the volcanic landscape. The project, which has just entered the analysis phase, includes three routes: from Hoya Grande to Roque de Los Muchachos, from Puerto de Tazacorte to Punta de Tijarafe and from Tacande to La Bombilla.
- We are studying innovative options that can enrich the experience of our visitors and facilitate the mobility of residents, especially in areas with complex terrain, said Sergio Rodríguez, president of the Cabildo de La Palma, as quoted by Express.

Although not as popular as Tenerife or Gran Canaria , La Palma has been attracting more conscious travelers for years – lovers of nature, trekking and the night sky. Nicknamed "La Isla Bonita" (The Beautiful Island), it is famous for its pristine landscapes, deep gorges, banana plantations and the cleanest air in Europe.
Thanks to the planned queues, tourism on the island could reach a completely new level – literally and figuratively.
Aerial view of the volcano – a new way to explore the Canary Islands- The initiative aims to diversify the tourist offer, improve connectivity in difficult-to-access areas and offer a unique perspective of the La Palma landscape, while respecting the principles of sustainable development and respect for the natural environment - emphasizes the Cabildo spokesman quoted by Express.
There aren’t many places in the world where you can admire an active volcanic landscape … from the cabin of a cable car . Meanwhile, La Palma authorities plan to show visitors the raw beauty of nature from a whole new perspective. One of the main inspirations is the massive eruption of the Cumbre Viejo volcano in 2021 , which lasted 85 days, swallowed hundreds of homes and caused damage exceeding €842 million.
Today, however, the same landscape attracts tourists. The cable cars will not only allow for faster travel through the mountainous terrain, but will also open up a completely new perspective on the island.
Sustainable development with a view to the futureThe project is to be implemented with full respect for the environment and local communities.
The island’s authorities expect to complete the feasibility study phase in the coming months and make decisions that could place La Palma among the European leaders in sustainable tourism.
