The 212.6 million złoty was quickly disbursed. Over a million students received the funds – when are applications due?

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) announced on Tuesday that since the beginning of July, the Good Start benefit has been granted to nearly 1.6 million students . According to the latest data, guardians have received a total of PLN 212.6 million in their accounts.
An application for benefits under the Good Start program can only be submitted electronically - via the mZUS application, the ZUS Electronic Services Platform (PUE), electronic banking or the Emp@tia portal.
The application must include:
- bank account number,
- email address,
- phone number.
You should also complete the children's details and information about the schools they attend or will attend.
Adult students who are not supported by their parents, as well as self-employed persons leaving foster care, may apply for the benefit on their own.
Information about the granting of support will be available in the inbox on your PUE ZUS profile – even if the application was submitted via online banking or the Emp@tia portal. PUE ZUS will also contain all correspondence regarding the benefit application (requests to supplement the application or attachments, information about the granting of the benefit, and the decision refusing the benefit).
The benefit will be paid only to the designated bank account.
If the application is completed correctly and submitted by the end of August, the money will be paid no later than September 30.
As part of the Good Start program, parents can receive PLN 300 once a year for the purchase of school supplies, such as textbooks, notebooks and school supplies.
The benefit is available for a child in education aged 7 to 20, or up to 24 if they have a certified disability, regardless of their parents' earnings. Financial support is not available for children in preschool or university.
ZUS recognises that the ages of 20 and 24 are counted in terms of age, which means that students of the last years of technical and secondary schools, as well as students of post-secondary schools, are also entitled to the benefit if they reached the age limit, i.e. 20 or 24, before the start of the school year in that calendar year.
