New from Queens of the Stone Age. Fans have never seen anything like this before

Queens of the Stone Age have fulfilled their dream. The band's unusual, intimate concert will soon be available to all fans. What makes "Alive in the Catacombs" stand out?
After the extraordinary concert that Queens of the Stone Age played in the Paris Catacombs last July, fans are in for a real treat. The band has just announced that a concert film , "Alive in the Catacombs," will premiere on June 5. However, the film immortalizing their legendary performance will not be the only one that fans will get their hands on. An album recording the performance will also be released in the coming weeks.
The band's frontman, Joshua Homme , had been dreaming of playing in the Paris Catacombs for almost 20 years. During his visit to Paris, he was enchanted by this extraordinary place, which he immediately considered an incredibly spectacular backdrop. However, the band had to fight for a long time to get permission to go underground and do something that had never happened in the history of this place.
It was not until 2024 that the band received permission to make the Paris Catacombs - a vast ossuary located beneath the city's surface, whose foundations are the remains of several million people buried in the 18th century - their stage.
Rock in the Paris CatacombsTheir unique character sees Homme and his bandmates – Troy Van Leeuwen , Michael Shuman , Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore – supported by a three-piece string section, abandon their rock vibe for a slightly darker and incredibly intimate performance.
- Filmed and recorded in July 2024, Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catakumbs captures QOTSA as you have never seen or heard them before. It is an incredibly unique experience, a once-in-a-lifetime performance, intimate yet surrounded by millions of human remains - the largest audience we have ever played for.
As Billboard reports, the entire spectacle, as this performance could be called, was recorded live, without overdubs or editing.

The whole is complemented by the sounds of dripping water , echoes , and atmospheric lighting adds a unique atmosphere.
- The Paris Catacombs are fertile ground for the imagination. It is important for us that the artists take control of this universe and offer a sensitive interpretation of it. Going underground and facing the reflections of death can be a very intense experience. Josh seems to feel the full potential of this place in body and soul. The recordings resonate perfectly with the mystery, history and a certain introspection, especially felt in the subtle use of silence in the Catacombs - said Hélène Furminieux of Les Catacombes de Paris .
The director of the project "Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs" is Thomas Rames. The film recording the introduction will be available for rent or purchase on the band's official website. And on July 30, Polish fans will be able to admire their live performance at Warsaw's Torwar .
