LOT is embarking on a major acquisition that will also benefit others. The list of companies is growing.

- LOT Polish Airlines is undergoing the largest fleet modernization program in its history. The next decade (2025-2035) will be a time of intensive aircraft deliveries and rotations to accommodate the growing number of passengers.
- With the new MAX in mind, the airline has already signed contracts with the Recaro factory in Świebodzin and the XEOS factory near Wrocław.
- Meanwhile, the American Honeywell has just been selected by LOT as a supplier of a range of cockpit technologies for these aircraft.
In mid-June, LOT signed a contract for 40 new-generation Airbus A220 regional aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 44. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and continue until the fourth quarter of 2035. Before that happens, however, it will be crucial to expand our national fleet with narrow-body MAX aircraft . Currently, the Polish carrier has 18 Boeing 737 MAX 8s in its fleet.
The management of LOT Polish Airlines has announced the purchase of another 13 Boeings of this type. Deliveries of these narrow-body Boeings will begin in November 2025 and conclude in August 2026. Negotiations are also underway regarding the leasing of additional aircraft .
Honeywell will equip new LOT Polish Airlines aircraft with a range of cockpit technologiesThe aircraft, which will join the national carrier's fleet in 2026, will be equipped with advanced Honeywell aviation systems that increase pilots' situational awareness and support efficient work in the cockpit during flight.
This will include:
- The IntuVue RDR-4000 3-D weather radar system – the first automatic commercial radar that provides an accurate picture of the weather along an aircraft's flight path. IntuVue automatically scans the sky at 17 angles. It then presents a 3D weather image on an intuitive display that pilots can easily and quickly access.
- SmartTraffic TCAS/Mode S (Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System and Mode S Transponder), which protects aircraft from in-flight collisions by detecting threats and issuing precise avoidance maneuver commands,
- QuantumTM communication and navigation radios – designed for smooth adaptation to the realities of aviation moving towards free-flight models,
- The Honeywell Connected Recorder-25 (HCR-25), which provides continuous access to flight data, supports predictive aircraft maintenance and in-depth operational analysis. In emergency situations, it enables investigators to recover key recordings.
"We are proud to support LOT Polish Airlines' latest fleet investment by equipping pilots with state-of-the-art onboard systems. This will enable passengers in the dynamically developing region of Central and Eastern Europe to enjoy a world-class travel experience," says John Guasto, Vice President of Airline Business EMEAI at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies.
Armchairs made in Poland, but from a German manufacturerAt the end of July, LOT Polish Airlines took delivery of the first set of Recaro Aircraft Seating seats, which will be used on board the aforementioned Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft . The manufactured set will be shipped to Boeing's US factory in Seattle by ship. The logistics of such an operation are crucial, as delayed transport of the seats could result in the new MAX arriving in Poland delayed by up to several months. The current plan is for the MAX with Recaro seats to land in Poland in November .
Cooperation with the German seat manufacturer is crucial for LOT Polish Airlines – in the coming years, LOT will receive approximately 14,000 modern seats, which will be successively installed in all of the carrier's aircraft.

"We're gaining a contractor based in Poland who has immediate access to the spare parts we need. The Świebodzin plant also houses the entire team that produces our seats. This allows us to respond quickly to needs ," assured Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines , at the Recaro factory.
The modular design of the ordered Recaro seats makes them easier to service. According to information obtained from LOT Polish Airlines, as many as 15% of their flight delays due to technical issues are due to seat defects .
The new Recaro R2 seats are lightweight and ergonomically more advanced. They also gain new features: each seat is equipped with a 60W individual power outlet for fast charging of electronic devices, and a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) holder for convenient use of a tablet or phone. Travel comfort is also enhanced by six-way adjustable headrests, extended armrests, contoured backrests with comfort foam, and lightweight, sliding tray tables.

"Our passengers have been expecting high-quality service from us for some time now. These seats already have certain features that truly position them among the more advanced . These are, of course, details that are more appreciated by passengers who fly more frequently, but this is an offer we want to offer all our travelers," explained Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.
It's worth emphasizing that it's generally accepted practice for airlines worldwide to purchase new aircraft without passenger seats. Custom-made seats allow for customization of the aircraft's interior. The visual changes currently being implemented on LOT's MAX aircraft will bring their design closer to the wide-body Dreamliners in our fleet.

In January 2025, Lufthansa Technik and LOT Polish Airlines signed a service agreement for engine servicing in MAX aircraft .
Most of them will be shipped to the modern XEOS aircraft engine maintenance facility in Środa Śląska, near Wrocław, which opened this spring . XEOS is a joint venture between GE of the United States and Lufthansa Technik of Germany.
The plant in Środa Śląska is currently one of the most technologically advanced MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facilities in the world.
The XEOS facility conducts service inspections, module repairs, and demanding engine tests. A test stand for new engine types is planned to be launched in the coming months.
"In January, we announced that LOT Polish Airlines had chosen Lufthansa Technik as its partner for servicing its CFM LEAP-1B engines. It was therefore a natural step to accept LOT's first engine for servicing at the XEOS facility in Poland. This modern facility is an excellent complement to our LEAP engine servicing infrastructure in Hamburg, " said Christian Seitler, Director of New Generation Engine Service at Lufthansa Technik, during the ceremony in March.
"We desperately need these kinds of spaces to meet the planned passenger growth at LOT Polish Airlines . Today, we have 18 MAX jets with these engines (LEAP – ed.). I feel very comfortable that they will be well-maintained here – in Środa Śląska," explained Dorota Dmuchowska, Vice President of Operations at LOT Polish Airlines.
LOT's fleet will increase from 76 aircraft (at the beginning of 2024) to 90 aircraft (expected by the end of 2025). LOT also expects to carry 27.7 million passengers in 2035. Last year, the carrier carried 10.7 million passengers.
