TOLUCA, Edomex (apro).- Elected judges linked to the Texcoco Group that governs the State of Mexico will hold, on a rotating basis, the presidency of the state's Superior Court of Justice (TSJEM) for the first term elected at the polls, based on the assignment made this Friday by the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM).

With the highest percentage of votes, the president for the first two years (2025-2027) will be the civil magistrate for the Texcoco region, Héctor Macedo García, a candidate close to the Secretary General of Government, Horacio Duarte.

Martha Alicia Flores Cordero finished second in the presidential race. Her profile describes herself as "Mexiquense de Corazón," the name of the Morena party led by Senator Higinio Martínez, on leave. However, the law requires that winners in the presidential race (with the exception of the person with the highest number of votes) must also win the magistrate position they were running for in parallel, which did not occur in this case.

Therefore, that slot was assigned to the second-highest-ranked female candidate: Judge Erika Icela Castillo Vega, sponsored by the same faction, who will preside over the state judiciary for the next two years.

The TSJEM will then be headed by Luis Fernando Camacho Lupercio, former technical advisor to the Constitutional Affairs Commission in the federal Congress. He was nominated by the Executive Branch headed by Delfina Gómez and will be a criminal magistrate for the Texcoco region.

For her fourth two-year presidential term, local jurist Juana Dávila Flores also failed to win the magistrate position. With no other women in the running, the presidential nominee, Pablo Espinosa Márquez, a former Judiciary advisor who also sponsored by the Mexiquenses de Corazón (Mexiquenses of the Heart), could be appointed by the number of votes. He is also close to the current governor and well-regarded by the Secretary General of Government, with whom he collaborated on the Texcoco city council.

In the latter case, the councilors determined that their appointment would violate the principle of parity required by law, so they left that position vacant, and the electoral courts will determine who will occupy the final position.
