EEC 2025. Prompting is like the new English language

EEC 2025. Prompting is like the new English language
  • We don't talk to AI - we use it. Interaction with a language model is not a dialogue in the human sense, but a reflection of our intentions, language and prejudices - AI has no consciousness, emotions or purpose. These are the conclusions reached by participants of the debate "How to talk to AI?" during the 17th European Economic Congress .
  • Prompt is power. The effectiveness of the model depends on the quality of the question - well-formulated prompts allow you to control the narrative, test ideas or simulate roles in recruitment and creative processes.
  • Prompting is the new skill. Experts agreed that the ability to talk to AI is becoming a "second English" today - a key tool for conceptual work and effective communication.

During the session "How to talk to AI?" participants faced a fundamental question: can communication with a language model be called a conversation in the human sense of the word? An important thesis was put forward - interaction with AI is not a dialogue , but an interface, a reflection of our intentions, language, prejudices and cognitive structures.

We don't really talk to AI. We use it

Inez Okulska, editor of hAI Magazine and a scientist, emphasized that while language models may appear to have opinions or egos, in reality AI has no self-awareness , no fear of death, no purpose, and no need to draw attention to itself - all that emerges is the result of input and algorithmic calculation.

The expert drew attention to the conditions of training data, from which cultural clichés and calques emerge - these are the ones that most often "win the casting" for the answer. Her perspective was pragmatic: as a language assistant, the model works great, for example, in tasks such as: "quote all fragments concerning the information obligation".

How to prompt to achieve good results?

Karol Stryja, the author of the podcast "99 Faces of AI" drew attention to the issue of prompting - as a key element that controls the entire process. It is in the question that lies the power over how the model responds.

One of the interesting applications that the panelists talked about was putting a model in a specific role . Such tools can be used, for example, to simulate conversations with different personalities or professions - for example, during recruitment.

Marcin Sawicki, a TVN journalist, revealed that he sometimes gives a model the role of his producer, with whom he will talk about the materials to be produced. "What questions will you ask me?" - he prompts then, asking for constructive criticism of ideas. It is not only a creative exercise, but also a form of conceptual work on oneself.

Cezary Kuik, AI Product Manager at Allegro Machine Learning Research concluded that prompting is becoming a second language of English, a language that allows for effective communication.

Marcin Sawicki, a TVN journalist, admitted that he uses the model for creative discussions about programs.
