Attention entrepreneurs! WhatsApp will allow channel subscription fees.

The instant messaging app WhatsApp recently announced new features that, for the first time, will allow channels to be monetized through monthly subscriptions.

In this sense, the way brands and content creators interact with their communities on WhatsApp will undergo a significant change. Businesses, organizations, and administrators will also be able to strengthen their digital presence.

What's new in WhatsApp. How do I find channels in the directory?

Subscriptions and Visibility on WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduces three tools to grow your business within the platform. The most significant is the ability to charge for channel subscriptions, which will allow administrators to share exclusive content with their most engaged followers.

“We wanted to support admins with a way to build a business around their channel,” explained Alice Newton Rex, vice president of product at WhatsApp.

we're making some additions to the Updates tab, home to Status and Channels and a separate space from your personal chats. here's what's coming 👇

With promoted channels, creators will be able to increase their visibility in the directory and reach new followers. “We're giving admins the ability to promote certain channels in the directory to attract new followers and increase the distribution of their content,” Newton added.

On the other hand, status ads will allow businesses to be discovered within the app and initiate direct chats with customers interested in their products or services. It's worth noting that this would be the first time ads have been shown on WhatsApp.

$!That's what WhatsApp channels are like.

“WhatsApp is used by millions of businesses because people want to talk to businesses on their own terms,” Alice noted.
