What does a man trapped in a juvenile correctional facility do?

With a hint of Witold Gombrowicz , the play But It's Not Quite True presents an adult man trapped in a juvenile correctional facility. This could be a dreamlike effect, as in Ferdydurke , the Polish author's novel, where the return of adult men to school was a sign of the infantilization that society uses to denigrate individuals. From this narrative, related to the absurd , laughter emerges in alliance with the grotesque to show how in a realistic drama, absurd situations can also arise from a displacement, from an element being misplaced.
The plot takes place within the framework of a musical (with Gonzalo Braz and Bruno Dambrosio as musicians integrated into the scene, and the musical composition by Ana Kantemiroff). In a play with the codes of that genre, the forms of a show serve to reflect on less joyful themes.
Sound, or its absence, functions as a dramatic element because Ernesto tries to explain that there is something anomalous or incorrect about his situation, but no one listens. With this recourse, his entire humanity is denigrated by a system incapable of allocating adequate aid. When the error seems to have irreparable consequences, the entire institutional system demonstrates that it is no longer willing to address it.
Ana Kantemiroff directs the play.
But this isn't entirely true . The play, directed and written by Ana Kantemiroff, proposes an alternative through a subtle modification. Soledad, the woman in charge of the cafeteria, begins to change the way she treats Ernesto by sensitively stimulating his perception. Small details can lead to a transformation, the reconstruction of a humanity that has been undermined.
In this work, performed by Daniela Daverio, Agustina Pettina, Félix Prince, and Jorge Vera, the structure is based on the notion of the invisible. Denied beings can also produce change through minimal gestures that the environment fails to decode, thus creating a possibility of resistance.
* But that's not entirely true. It will be shown on Thursday, May 15 and 22, at 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m., at the Club Atlético Fernández Fierro, Sánchez de Bustamante 772.
