Pedro Guerra remembers that first time he played in Santo Domingo

Spanish singer-songwriter Pedro Guerra returns to the country on May 20th at the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater to delight audiences with his new triple CD " Parceiros " and his iconic compositions "Toda una vida," "Contaminame" and "Pasaba por aquí."

In a video posted on his social media, the artist, playing the guitar , recalled his first encounter with his Dominican fans.

"How can I forget my first concert in the Dominican Republic in 1999? I played at a place called (Teatro Agua y Luz) and that kid from 1999 came out on stage and found a place with thousands of people singing my songs," he said while performing a bit of his song " Deseo ."

He described this experience from when he was presenting the album "Raíz" at that time as "an incredibly exciting thing" and since then he has never failed to visit Dominican soil on his tours.

Pedro Guerra came to the Dominican Republic at the end of the 1990s with Juan Luis Guerra as part of the anniversary celebration of his television channel Mango TV .

The singer-songwriter , born Pedro Manuel Guerra Mansito 58 years ago, spoke about his latest album " Parceiros ", which is a triple CD, which has featured collaborations and co-recorded with Juan Luis Guerra , Vicente García, Pavel Núñez, Alex Ferreira , among others.

"That's what we're going to present at the National Theater on May 20th. See you, Santo Domingo ," he said, inviting the audience to attend the concert .

It was in 2021, at the same TN, that Guerra performed for the last time, bringing with him his guitar , great compositions, and a bit of bachata . That year, he paid tribute to the Dominican singer-songwriter Víctor Víctor, who died during the pandemic , and premiered the bachata "Cuando te invento" with Pavel Núñez.

Parceiros is a triple album that brings together 37 artists and explores diverse musical mixes and colors.

Other friends who are part of the soundtrack of his life also participate, such as Enrique Bunbury , Andrés Calamaro, Amaral, Ismael Serrano, El Kanka, Víctor Manuel, Ana Belén, Leonel García, Andrés Suárez, David Aguilar, Juanes and Muerdo, among others, in a production in which he had the complicity of Pablo Cebrián.

This musical work emerged during the pandemic caused by COVID-19 .

"Well, this is a piece that, indeed, I started working on during lockdown . That's the origin, because during lockdown I got in touch with some composer friends to write songs and entertain ourselves and people. We also uploaded them to social media afterwards, singing, shared videos. And well, in fact, I wrote it during lockdown , five years ago. I wrote the song with Pavel Núñez, who was one of the people I started reading with, but also with some Mexican friends who are present in the project," he recalled.

Guerra highlighted that Colombia , Mexico, and the Dominican Republic are the three Latin American countries that have a strong representation in his musical work.
