MEXICO CITY (apro).- A federal court has provisionally halted the execution of any arrest warrant against Diego Jiménez Labora, founder of Grupo ECO, a company investigated by the Mexico City Attorney General's Office for the deaths of two photographers during the AXE Ceremonia festival.

The acting secretary of the Eleventh District Criminal Judge in Mexico City, José Alberto Rodríguez Rivera, granted Jiménez Labora a provisional suspension so he would not be detained.

"Diego Jiménez Labora Prieto is hereby granted a provisional suspension of the contested act, so that things remain in their current state and he is not deprived of his personal liberty due to the contested order and its execution," states the agreement issued on April 23.

The measure will remain in effect at least until May 6, when the judge decides whether or not to grant the suspension.

In addition, the businessman must post a 9,000-peso bond, and once the judge who issued the arrest warrant is notified, he will be required to appear to hear the charges filed by the city prosecutor's office.

Jiménez Labora is the founder of one of the four companies being investigated by the Federal District Attorney's Office (FGJCDMX) for the collapse of the scissor lift that caused the deaths of Citlali Berenice Giles and Miguel Ángel Rojas, two photojournalists who were covering the event held on April 5 at Bicentennial Park.

He was in charge of hiring artists for the show, which, despite the accident and the death of the young people, was not canceled.

The injunction he filed is known as a "search" appeal because, to date, there is no certainty that the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office has prosecuted the investigation and requested an arrest warrant against anyone.

Consequently, once all the criminal judges in Mexico City submit their reports, it will be possible to determine whether or not the arrest warrant you claimed exists.
