SSPC warns about drug sales on social media

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) , through its Intelligence, Cyber Investigation and Technological Operations Unit , issued a statement alerting the public about the risks of purchasing medications on social media.
The agency has detected the sale of low-cost medications on social media . These medications lack guarantees of origin, storage, and preservation, so they may be altered, expired, or counterfeit products. If this is the case, the use of these drugs can cause serious adverse effects and clinical complications.
It has also been detected that medications circulating illegally on social media and digital platforms often come from a variety of sources . They are sometimes stolen or robbed during transportation, or directly from public institutions, clinics, and hospitals. They may also be counterfeit or expired products.
These are the recommendations of the SSPC- Avoid purchasing medications on social media or in public from people without formal establishments, as they cannot guarantee product safety.
- Remember that offering controlled drugs without a prescription is a sign of possible fraud or illegal activity.
- Make purchases only at authorized and duly established sites.
- Be wary of excessively low prices, as they may indicate irregularities in their origin or authenticity.
- Always request an invoice and product warranty.
- Check before purchasing: Batch number and health registration printed on the packaging.
- Be wary of offers for scarce or "limited-sale" products, as these are often used for fraud.
