In Mexico, one of the most common customs is to accompany our dishes with tortillas, birotes, bolillos, or teleras.

Teleras are known for their characteristic oval shape with two lines marked on their surface. Soft and fluffy on the inside yet crispy on the outside, this golden bread has a rich, neutral, yet muted flavor that's perfect for eating alongside another food.

Although telera is originally from Spain , more specifically from Andalusia , when it arrived in Mexico the recipe for this ancestral food was modified over time until it became what it is today, that is, made with wheat flour, yeast, water and salt.

However, although it is quite popular in some areas of the country, eating too much of this product may not be very good for your health.

A single piece of approximately 60 g contains 183 calories, 5.7 g of protein, 39 g of carbohydrates and 341.4 mg of sodium , that is, it is practically the same as eating three corn tortillas or a similar portion of bolillo.
