The most notable exhibitions on Barcelona's schedule that you shouldn't miss this fall.

The change of season also arrives in museums. Some exhibition halls have already presented their proposals for the new season, and others will do so in the coming weeks. Immersive art is making a strong comeback, with experiences that offer a journey into the depths of nature and others that transport us to 16th-century Florence to witness the duel between Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti. But there are offerings for all tastes, from Cristina Iglesias's immersive sculpture to the work of Mario Armengol, the only Catalan and Spanish artist who worked extensively for Allied propaganda during World War II. Not to mention other names such as Helen Levitt, Antoni Clavé, André du Colombier...

MNAC Catalan ink against Hitler

The MNAC has just opened an exhibition showcasing the work of Mario Armengol (1909-1995), the only artist in the country who worked extensively for British and Allied propaganda during World War II. Between 1941 and 1945, he drew some two thousand cartoons against the Third Reich and the Axis forces, some of which can be seen alongside the publications in which they appeared in the exhibition "Catalan Ink Against Hitler" (until 11/1).

Miró Foundation Miró and the United States

The Fundació Miró focuses on the mutual influence between the Catalan artist and the North American art world in a new exhibition. The exhibition focuses on Miró's visits to the United States, from his retrospectives in New York to his contact with artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. Through key works and personal correspondence, it reveals the impact this cultural exchange left on his career (until February 22).

Palau Martorell and Reial Cercle Artístic Clavé, with capital letters

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Antoni Clavé's death, Barcelona is rescuing the Catalan artist's work from obscurity , thanks to an initiative by the Joan Gaspar gallery and the Archive Clavé. The exhibition Clavé, in capital letters displays more than 80 pieces in two venues, the Palau Martorell and the Reial Cercle Artístic (as well as the Palau de la Generalitat, which houses several more of Clavé's works), some of which are being shown for the first time (until 16/XI).

The Quarry Cristina Iglesias. Passages

Cristina Iglesias is known for her ability to create immersive environments, employing sculptural language, which she fuses with architecture, literature, psychology, and geology, among other disciplines. La Pedrera presents the first major solo exhibition in Barcelona of the Basque artist, bringing together thirty of her works and allowing us to delve into her labyrinthine forms (until January 25).

KBr Mapfre Foundation Helen Levitt

The photography of Helen Levitt (1913-2009) has been the subject of numerous revisions in recent years, but none, until now, has brought together her entire body of work. The KBr presents the largest retrospective ever held of the artist thanks to access to her archives, which until very recently were unavailable to view. A survey of more than seven decades capturing New York street life, everyday scenes, with a lyrical, tender, and human gaze (until February 1).

Ideal-Centre d'Arts Digitals Leonardo VS Michelangelo

Leonardo or Michelangelo? The Ideal puts the outcome of one of the most important artistic duels in history in the hands of the visitor . The Layers of Reality studio experience begins with the commission that both artists received to paint a mural in the Salone dei Cinquecento of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, side by side, and reviews the work of each, from the Mona Lisa to the imposing David . It allows us to enter their studiolos , discover the subsequent influence of their work and discover, in the end, who the victor is (until 28/XI).

Tàpies Museum A lyrical point of view

The exhibition that the Museu Tàpies is dedicating to André du Colombier is the first monographic exhibition on the artist in a museum. Unknown to many, as he has never appeared in major institutional circles, he was born in Barcelona in 1952 as André Paliard Iscu. It is known that he moved to Paris in the 1970s, where he studied philosophy and literature. He developed his work there and died in 2003 (until February 22).

Palau Robert The Deer. 75 years of free thought and culture

An exhibition commemorates the 75th anniversary of the magazine El Ciervo , which, born during the Franco regime, has been a space for freedom, debate, and reflection since its inception. The exhibition, in three spaces and five main areas, explores key moments in its history and highlights the documentary heritage accumulated over these years (until 18/1).

Arenas Shopping Center Antarctica Experience

Filmmaker and scientist Luc Jacquet, winner of an Oscar for the documentary The Emperor's Voyage , presents the immersive Antarctica Experience exhibition in the dome of the Arenas, where he follows the journey of the penguins through one of the most inhospitable and dazzling territories on the planet based on images taken during his expeditions (until 31/12).

CaixaForum We are nature

Another proposal that invites you to immerse yourself in nature is the CaixaForum experience Somos naturaleza , created by Oasis Studios and National Geographic, which combines art, science, and technology to showcase the beauty of the natural world and call for its preservation (until April 6).

Museum of History of Catalonia The gypsy village of Catalonia

The Museu d'Història de Catalunya has just opened an exhibition, coinciding with the 600th anniversary of the arrival of the Roma people to the Iberian Peninsula, which seeks to recognize, value, and make visible the history of the Roma people, avoiding stereotypes.

Can Framis Splendor. Return to the origin

The work of sculptor Marc Larré will leave Can Framis (on 10/26) to make way, in November, for the work of Silvia Gubern, with a long history of work in the avant-garde visual and plastic arts of Catalonia. She will return to Barcelona after 30 years to present the exhibition Splendor. Return to the Origin (11/18 - 22/20).

Espais Volart Ramon Calsina. Human miseries

The most critical and acidic side of Ramon Calsina i Baró, one of the most unique figures of 20th-century Catalan painting, can be seen in the exhibition dedicated to the artist at Espais Volart, which also includes the exhibition of the artist Toni Giró (until 3/15).

Tinell Hall Barcelona. The archive that we are

The Barcelona Municipal Archive presents an exhibition in the Saló del Tinell that reviews the city's history of more than 700 years through a meticulous selection of highly valuable documents – displayed in an exceptional manner – preserved by this institution, created in 1249 (until 23/XI).

Mater House Museum Inner worlds

Housseinou Gassama was born in Senegal and lived on the streets of Barcelona for at least four years, between 2008 and 2012. Crouching on his haunches, he obsessively painted houses, beds, tables, chairs, and more on small, repurposed tablets that now hang in major museums. Now, his work enters into dialogue with that of Peruvian artist Alberto Quintanilla in an exciting exhibition that opens the new season at Casa Museu Mater (until November 16).
