The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra dazzles with a performance at the Bicentennial Theater.
León, Gto.- The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) concluded its performance with a standing ovation at the Roberto Plasencia Saldaña Bicentennial Theater . This performance is part of its national tour and included a program celebrating the national holidays.
Under the artistic direction of José Luis Castillo, the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra performed a program featuring works by Mexican composers Carlos Chávez and Silvestre Revueltas , celebrating Mexican music; a tribute was also paid to Dmitri Shostakovich on the 50th anniversary of his death .
The presentation began with " Huapango y Sandunga" , from the suite " Horses of Vapor" composed by Carlos Chávez , which was highly applauded by the audience, and was followed by "Esquinas", by Silvestre Revueltas , which the orchestra added to its repertoire for the first time.
As a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich's death, the orchestra performed Symphony No. 11 , subtitled 1905 , which commemorates the failed Russian Revolution of 1905 .

According to the program, the symphony resembles a symphonic poem in four movements, without pauses, which transports through different moments of that event: an oppressive past, the awakening of protest, struggle, mourning and triumph.
At the end of the concert, the audience gave a standing ovation and the conductor returned to lead the Mexican song "Guadalajara, Guadalajara" by composer Pepe Guizar , which culminated the performance before an enthusiastic audience.
