Pink Month: Godoy Cruz raises awareness about breast cancer with a tempting invitation

Pink Month: Godoy Cruz raises awareness about breast cancer with a tempting invitation

Live music, food trucks, and a patient fashion show will be part of this weekend's offering at Espacio Arizu for charity purposes.

There are 18,000 new cases of breast cancer in the country, and almost all of them can be cured.

October is tinged with pink. As part of Breast Awareness Month, the inauguration of Espacio Arizu de Mama , Godoy Cruz is preparing for a unique and emotionally charged event: a fashion show featuring patients who have or are currently experiencing the disease, under the slogan "Raising awareness is in fashion."

The event will take place on Sunday, October 12th at 5:00 PM at Espacio Arizu (Belgrano 1322) and will combine fashion, music, and solidarity . Women between the ages of 30 and 85 will be on the runway, wearing designs by Le Mien and Knauer, along with accessories by Bruna, which supports the initiative.

The event will also include live music, food trucks, and a space for entrepreneurs, local businesses, and companies . Hair and makeup will be provided by Noe Moon and the team from the Godoy Cruz Municipal Education and Job Training Department, with the participation of students from the Social Economy hair and makeup workshops.

According to the Argentine Mastology Society, " one in eight women who reach the age of 80 will develop the disease at some point in their lives ." Dr. Francisco Terrier, a member of the organization, warns that "between 15,000 and 20,000 new cases are detected in Argentina each year."

Although the disease cannot be prevented , specialists emphasize that it can be cured in 80% of cases when detected early . Therefore, secondary prevention—based on regular checkups and diagnostic studies—is key.

"Since the disease is asymptomatic in its early stages, it can only be detected through follow-up breast exams with a mammologist and annual mammograms. The absence of symptoms does not mean that you cannot have breast cancer," Terrier explained.

The Argentine Mastology Society recommends annual mammography starting at age 40 for women with no family history. If there is a direct history, screening is suggested starting ten years before the age at which the family history was diagnosed.

Event data

The "Raising Awareness is Fashion" fashion show seeks to unite fashion, art, and health in a single cause: to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and celebrate the strength of those facing breast cancer.
