Michelle and Barack Obama Share Rare Family Photo to Celebrate Sasha’s Birthday
It isn’t every day that we get a new photo of the Obama family. Still, yesterday, former first lady Michelle Obama and former president Barack Obama posted one on their Instagrams to celebrate their younger daughter Sasha’s 24th birthday.
The photo shows the family of four (Michelle, Barack, Malia, and Sasha) dressed casually in a tropical climate. Michelle posted with the caption, “Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Love you always! 💕🥳🎉”
And Barack posted the same photo with the caption, “Happy birthday, Sasha! Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift. I’ll always be proud of you and will always be here for you.”
Last week, the former first lady appeared on an episode of Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson to discuss parenting and her two daughters. She shared that there was a period when Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, went through the “push away” phase when they were teenagers. “I mean, they’re still doing that,” the Becoming author said.
She also revealed that she understands why Malia and Sasha want to “distinguish” themselves from their parents and chart their own paths. “It’s very important for my kids to feel like they’ve earned what they are getting in the world,” she continued. “They don’t want people to assume that they don’t work hard and that they’re naturally just handed things. They’re very sensitive to that. They want to be their own people.”
