In Europe a bridge between inventors and investors, with an app

Building bridges between inventors and investors in Europe has become a necessary condition if we want to pave the way for innovation: this is the goal of the app created by the European Patent Office (EPO) to help startups, which are increasingly younger and more numerous: EPO spokesperson Luis Berenguer told ANSA. The day after the first ceremony entirely dedicated to young inventors who have not yet turned 30, organized by the EPO in Iceland, in Reykjavik, it is clear that "new technological solutions at the service of society are born from brilliant young minds" and it is equally clear that "to bring their innovations to the market they need money". For this reason, he adds, "as EPO, we have created the tool called Deep Tech Finder". It is a free, interactive and accessible app, created to connect investors, researchers, over 10 thousand startups and more than 1,200 universities that have submitted European patent applications. Another tool is the 'European patent with unitary effect', active since 2023 and to which 18 countries (Italy is among them) of the 39 members of the EPO have so far adhered: it is the procedure by which with the payment of a single fee you obtain patent protection simultaneously in the 18 countries that have ratified the agreement. It is also important "to do everything possible to promote communication on patents and what it means to become an inventor. As EPO - he concludes - we try to do it, starting from schools".
