Milan - Carlo Acutis will be proclaimed a saint in Assisi on September 7th - Free Time - Varese News

Carlo Acutis, the young Milanese who died at just 15 years old and was beatified in 2020 , will be canonized in Assisi on September 7, 2025. The announcement comes from the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino, which announced the new date for the ceremony , initially scheduled for April 27 , during the Jubilee of Adolescents, and then suspended due to the death of Pope Francis. It will be the first canonization for Pope Leo XIV.

Who was Carlo Acutis?

Carlo Acutis was born in London in 1991 to an Italian family and grew up in Milan. From an early age, he displayed profound devotion and extraordinary spiritual sensitivity. He was a boy like many others: passionate about computers, football, and video games, but with a strong and concrete faith, which he lived daily. He dedicated himself to creating websites to spread the Gospel and the Eucharist, which he called "my highway to heaven." He died at the age of 15 in Monza from fulminant leukemia and was buried in Assisi, in accordance with his wishes . He was beatified on October 10, 2020.

The canonization in Assisi

The choice of Assisi as the site of the canonization is no coincidence. Carlo had a deep connection with Saint Francis, and it is in the saint's basilica that he will be proclaimed a saint. The diocese has announced that celebrations, moments of prayer, and hospitality will be planned for pilgrims from around the world.
