From restorers to teachers: at Suor Orsola, registration and admission tests for qualifying degrees are now open.

From restorers to professional educators, from pedagogists to preschool and primary school teachers . In Naples, the Suor Orsola Benincasa University, Italy's oldest independent university, is among the universities in our country with the highest concentration of degree programs in the humanities that directly qualify for professions. And it is preparing for a busy schedule of entrance exams for many of these degree programs. Suor Orsola is the first Italian university in terms of number of places available (690) for the master's degree in Primary Education Sciences ( registration for the entrance test is open until September 8th ), which is the only degree course in Italy that directly qualifies for teaching (in primary and nursery schools) and for number of places available in specialization courses for the training of support teachers in schools of all levels. But there's more, because, thanks to Law No. 55 of 2024, the Registers of Pedagogical and Educational Professions have finally been established in Italy and today Suor Orsola graduates in Educational Sciences (L-19) and Pedagogical Consultancy (LM-85 and LM-57) will be able to register in the Register of Professional Socio-Pedagogical Educators, in the first case, and in the Register of Pedagogists, in the second.
The degree courses in Social Work Sciences (open enrollment) and Psychology (registration for the entrance exam open until September 21st) are also aimed at immediate professional placement through registration in the Professional Register of Social Workers or Psychologists (both of which have a Section B for bachelor's degree holders and a Section A for master's degree holders).
This year, too, the entrance exams for another of Suor Orsola's directly qualifying degree programs will be held at the beginning of October (with registration open until September 30th): the master's degree program in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, one of the very few in Italy that directly qualifies students to practice the profession of restorer . This degree program also opened its teaching facilities in Caivano this year as part of the extraordinary intervention plan implemented by the Italian government. Due to its limited enrollment, the program represents a true "school" of restoration open to only 20 students .
And precisely this limited enrollment, even where not mandated by the ministry, is another of Suor Orsola's trademarks. This choice allows for a teaching methodology with limited numbers ( a 25-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio ) and, as the latest AlmaLaurea data on Italian graduates show, also allows for highly productive individual student care, with 78% of students graduating on time, a figure nearly twenty points higher than the national average. "Alongside the many degree programs that directly qualify for various professions," emphasizes Rector Lucio d'Alessandro , "we can proudly boast, with certified data, that our degree programs are particularly 'qualifying' in the job market because for many years we have been designing and constantly updating our educational offerings in collaboration with the business and professional world, also tailoring them to the specific competencies that enhance the appeal of our graduates' skills ."
