Pyrenees: Five rescuers for the Dragon 64 helicopter, a hiker seriously injured in Holzarte

The PGHM gendarmes carried out five rescues this Friday, August 15, notably following the fall of a hiker over 50 meters, near the Holtzarte footbridge.
Gendarmes from the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) carried out five air evacuations this Friday, August 15. At 9:40 a.m., they rescued a paraglider in her sixties in Accous who had missed her takeoff and was unharmed in a tree 20 meters above the ground.
For each intervention, a doctor (Smur) and two PGHM rescuers were mobilized on board Dragon 64.
At 11:40 a.m., a 28-year-old hiker fell from the GR 10 trail leading to the Holtzarte footbridge in the commune of Larrau. In a very steep area equipped with a handrail, she fell below the path and rolled for about fifty meters. She suffered multiple injuries and was not life-threatening. She was airlifted to Pau hospital.
Three other interventions took place: for an epileptic seizure of a young woman in Laruns, near the Feris waterfall; for a woman injured in the knee following a fall on the path leading to the Ayous lakes (Laruns) and for a young hiker injured in the shoulder and ankle after falling on the path between Artouste and Arrémoulit (Laruns).
