Landmarks. Selection of festivals

It's been almost twenty years since the Strasbourg contemporary music festival Jazzdor made its home in Berlin. The program takes place during the first week of June.
After being hosted in the Babylon cinema, the festival moved to the Kesselhaus of the Kulturbrauerei. In this industrial building located in Prenzlauer Berg, a cosmopolitan district, Jazzdor has attracted a loyal and curious audience, attentive to the creativity of French artists and collaborations between European musicians, as well as Franco-German projects.
Other, larger festivals punctuate the year. Starting with JazzFest Berlin. The 62nd edition, which will take place from October 30th to November 2nd, brings together more than 120 international musicians, including the David Murray Quartet and Marc Ribot. Some concerts take place in the A-Trane and Quasimodo clubs, and even in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
Another must-see event is the XJAZZ! Festival, usually held in May. It showcases a wide variety of jazz styles, from classical to modern and more experimental sounds.
Organized by IG Jazz, which brings together nearly 350 members including musicians and programmers of jazz and improvised music, Jazzwoche Berlin features concerts, workshops and debates around current and social issues such as inclusion, ecology, the place of art and budget cuts, etc.
Since 2019, the event has taken place at the end of June.
