Xbox Games Showcase 2025: New consoles, surprise releases, and a title available today

The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 made its core goal clear: to deliver seamless, accessible experiences regardless of device.
All of the announced games are part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning they can be played with a single purchase on console, PC, or the new Xbox Ally handheld device, with shared progression and achievements.
Xbox Ally and Ally X: portable gaming with a console soul Microsoft and ASUS officially unveiled the new ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld consoles, which will be released in the 2025 holiday season. These devices will allow you to play titles from Xbox, Battle.net, Steam, and other platforms from a single system, with a streamlined interface and full Game Pass compatibility.

In terms of games, the event surprised with the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 , set in 2035, where psychological and technological warfare intertwine in a story developed by Treyarch and Raven Software.
Also introduced were highly anticipated sequels like The Outer Worlds 2 , with a deeper focus on narrative and customization, and Grounded 2, which expands the original universe with new biomes, tools, and rideable creatures.

Fans of intense combat celebrated the return of Ninja Gaiden 4, while Gears of War: Reloaded, a remastered version of the classic, arrives on August 26.
Additionally, Clockwork Revolution showed gameplay previews in a steampunk city plagued by time travel, and Double Fine's new title, Keeper, will take players to a surreal island inhabited by a walking beacon.

In an unexpected announcement, Final Fantasy XVI is now available for Xbox Series X|S and PC, including both standard and full versions. A playable demo of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 has also been released for those who pre-order the game or are subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate.
New allied studies projects The Showcase also served as a platform for new studios and international partnerships. Persona 4 Revival, Invincible VS, Beast of Reincarnation (Game Freak), and At Fate's End (Thunder Lotus) were some of the highlights.
Other new releases include Aniimo, a creature-collecting RPG; Aphelion, a space adventure developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency; and Mudang: Two Hearts, a tactical action game set in a reunited Korea.

Among the sequels announced were Planet of Lana II, High on Life 2, and Super Meat Boy 3D, which brings the iconic character into a 3D environment for the first time.
Updates for titles already available Expansions and new content have been announced for live games: Fallout 76 is adding fishing with "Gone Fission," The Elder Scrolls Online is picking up the story of the Worm Cult, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is releasing its first DLC, "Order of the Giants," on September 4. Also coming is "Heavenly Spear," an expansion for Age of Mythology: Retold featuring a new Japanese pantheon.
Looking ahead: Xbox will turn 25 in 2026 Phil Spencer closed the event by anticipating Xbox's 25th anniversary in 2026, with releases including a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and "the return of a classic that's been with us since the beginning."
Following the main event, Obsidian hosted the “The Outer Worlds 2 & Grounded 2 Direct” special, offering an extended look at both titles. Grounded 2 launches July 29 via Game Preview and Steam Early Access.
