Which circus animal would you be, Emil Steinberger?

Which circus animal would you be, Emil Steinberger?

Born 6 January 1933 in Lucerne Profession Cabaret artist, actor, director, author Education Postal worker (resigned), training as a graphic designer Status Has a good laugh

If these pictures could speak, they would do so with a Swiss-German accent. Emil Steinberger is a cult figure of cabaret: charming, sly, and timelessly funny. He once said goodbye to his job at the post office, finding it too monotonous. He exchanged his secure civil service career for an education at the arts and crafts school, something his mother had little understanding for, calling it nonsense. But he saw the deliberately induced career setback as "salvation." The post office counter was obviously not his stage, but perhaps it was his rehearsal space. Audiences love the mischievous Swiss when, in his overwhelmed father role or as a slow-witted telegraph clerk, he pointedly brings the completely normal, everyday madness to the stage. After half a lifetime in the theater, in the circus ring, and on television, the hustle and bustle surrounding him became too much for him in 1993. He went to New York for a creative break. Today we would call it a "sabbatical." He didn't find peace there, but he did find true love. After a few years, he returned to Switzerland not only with his wife Niccel, but also to the stage. Typical Emil – About Letting Go and Starting Over is the title of the film with and about Emil Steinberger, which has been in theaters since June 19.
