I finally found the perfect sweatshirt – and it costs under 40 euros

I finally found the perfect sweatshirt – and it costs under 40 euros

The perfect sweatshirt: I finally found it at this label

The journey is the destination? Well, when you're talking about hikes and world travels, that might be true. But when it comes to fashion? Absolutely not. How much time have we all spent in fitting rooms and online shops, only to end up not finding exactly the right piece? It's especially difficult with basics: T-shirts, jeans , and the like are everywhere, and everyone claims to make the perfect pair. But in the end, you always find an argument against it – be it the cut, material, or price.

My most recent hunt revolved around sweatshirts. One was too short for me, another too bulky, and most of the cuts were simply boring. I had almost given up and was toying with the idea of having an old Maison Margiela sweatshirt I bought about 10 years ago re-tailored, because it came closest to my idea of perfection, at least in terms of the cut. But then came the surprise.

The perfect sweatshirt by Clare Waight Keller for "Uniqlo : C"

It's worth it to keep searching. By pure chance, I stumbled upon a new sweatshirt from the special "Uniqlo : C" collection, designed by the former Givenchy designer and current Global Creative Director of Uniqlo. While much of the new collection won't be available until early September, the line's unisex sweatshirt is already available.

My personal conclusion: As classic as it looks in the pictures, it was surprisingly good when I tried it on for the first time. Slightly overcut sleeves, wide enough for a good fit, a waistband that's not too narrow, and, compared to other styles, thin enough to wear even in late summer when temperatures are a bit higher.

Clare Waight Keller is one of those designers who doesn't need a lot of flair and can create a truly beautiful silhouette with just minor adjustments to the cut. It's fortunate that her design talent has landed at Uniqlo, where we can all benefit from it at affordable prices (I placed another order of sweatshirts immediately after trying them on). And while the search for the perfect pair is always a very personal one, I highly recommend you give this unisex style a try. Perhaps it will soon become your new favorite.
