Berlin-based AI startup N8n valued at more than $1.5 billion, according to media report

N8n has long impressed with its list of investors; founder Jan Oberhauser had already secured Sequoia, among others, right from the start. Now the startup is said to have become a unicorn.

Germany's newest unicorn could be an AI startup. However, it won't be one that launched just a few months ago, like Lovable.

As the Financial Times first reported , Berlin-based software startup N8n is currently in talks with investors about another round of financing. The valuation is said to be more than $1.5 billion (approximately €1.3 billion). What's particularly surprising is that the negotiations are taking place just months after the last round in March, in which the company was valued at around €300 million. According to insiders, N8n could raise more than $100 million in the current round.

N8n develops platforms for automating everyday business processes using artificial intelligence. The startup aims to help companies and their employees automate certain tasks that need to be performed repeatedly. For this purpose, various programs can be connected, such as Slack, Google Sheets, or Telegram.

According to the company, it has more than 230,000 active users, including companies such as Delivery Hero and Stepstone, and has increased recurring revenue (ARR) to approximately $40 million.

The fact that N8n has the potential to become big could have been seen early on from the list of investors : The Silicon Valley VC Sequoia Capital, for example, has been on board for a long time, as have HV Capital and Felicis Ventures, Firstminute Capital from London and the Californian early-stage VC Harpoon Ventures.

The founder Jan Oberhauser grew up in the Allgäu region and spent years producing special effects for films. He describes himself as a "nerd" and has been teaching himself programming since he was 14. In 2019, he founded N8n.

Oberhauser came up with the idea for N8n while working on the films. Initially, he created all the special effects himself, but then automated them. "And I noticed that I was programming and simplifying the same things over and over again," says the founder. While there are a few programs that offer similar things, none of them are good enough.
