Premiere above the rooftops: Frankfurt celebrates its first Rooftop Day

Frankfurt's skyline dominates front pages around the world. This coming Saturday, it will become a stage itself: The new Rooftop Day invites visitors every two years to experience the city from spectacular new perspectives, featuring culture, cuisine, and cocktails.
A festival for the vertical: On August 23, 2025, Frankfurt will celebrate its first Rooftop Day. Initiated by the city's marketing department, the event will open the doors to around 20 of the city's most exclusive roof terraces, balconies, and rooftop bars. From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., visitors will experience a program that reflects Frankfurt's urban dynamism and makes the skyline tangible. Music, dance, culinary delights, and art will transform otherwise private or business spaces into public stages with unique views.
Rooftop Day: Culture and cuisine with a viewThe program is as diverse as the city itself. At "FIFTY HEIGHTS," guests experience a Cuban night with Caribbean sounds and dance. Artists will present their poetry at poetry slams on the Belvedere of the Haus zur Goldene Waage or the roof gallery of the Old St. Nicholas Church.

The culinary horizons are also expansive. The sky bar "Oben" serves Spanish-Mediterranean tapas and cocktails. Occhio d'Oro on the Flemings Selection roof terrace offers small regional specialties with a light Italian touch.
Rooftop Day provides insights into otherwise closed spacesA special appeal of Rooftop Day lies in the access to places normally closed to the public. Mayor Mike Josef, for example, will open the famous Roman balcony and personally guide visitors through the historic rooms. Tickets for these tours, however, sold out shortly after their release.
