Updating the emergency data record becomes an independent EBM service

Berlin. Effective January 1 of next year, the Evaluation Committee has approved a new EBM position for updating an emergency medical record. The new GOP 01643 replaces the currently valid, comparable GOP 01641 (once per treatment case, 4 points), which will then be deleted.
The old code is still defined as a surcharge on the insured person, basic, and consultation flat rates. In contrast, the new GOP 01643 (39 points) is designed as a separate benefit that—in the case of personal doctor-patient contact—is to be billed once in the event of illness.
Service content of GOP 01643: Updating medically relevant information in the emergency data record on the electronic health card. Alternatively, the initial creation of an emergency data record is also possible if only insured person data, information on the treating physicians, and relatives to be contacted are to be stored in the eHealth card, or if emergency data is to be re-transferred to the eHealth card in the event of a card exchange or loss.
Like all new EBM services, GOP 01643 will initially be fully funded for two years. Subsequently, it will be transferred to the morbidity-based total reimbursement system – unless volume growth "requires further extra-budgetary reimbursement." (cw)
