Pretty village in 'UK's St Tropez' named best sunrise spot in Britain with beautiful views

A beautiful village in the UK's very own version of St Tropez has been named as the best destination to watch the sunrise in the UK. With the summer solstice on Saturday, June 21, millions of early risers will catch the first glimpses of the morning sun on what is the longest day of the year.
The pretty village of St Minver in Cornwall is home to the iconic Rough Tor, which has been dubbed the best sunrise spot in the country. Known for its sweeping panoramic views across the Cornish countryside, this popular trail is an ideal vantage point for a magical sunrise, especially if you manage to visit on the solstice. Cornwall itself has even been named the UK's very own St Tropez, sharing similarities with the French Riviera town in terms of beautiful scenery, celebrity sightings and stunning beaches.
Those who have visited Rough Tor have left rave reviews on Tripadvisor, with one writing: "Walked to Roughtor with husband and teenage daughter. Beautiful scenery and easy walk to the top. Spectacular views. Walking shoes or sturdy footwear recommended."
Another added: "One of my favourite places on this planet, Bodmin Moor, so wild and enchanting. I want my ashes scattering from the top so I can fly to the five corners of Cornwall."
While a third penned: "Lovely walk to the top and awesome views on a clear day when you get there. Check the weather forecast before you go though as the mist can come in quickly."
Alongside Rough Tor, Parkdean Resorts, have named a number of other UK spots that are perfect for watching the sunrise. Coming in second was Queen’s View in Scotland, located near the stunning Tummel Valley.
Singing the praises of Queen's View, the expert said: "This iconic Highland lookout offers breathtaking vistas over Loch Tummel.
"With convenient parking nearby, it’s a serene and accessible choice for a dawn adventure."
From the rugged peaks of Dartmoor to the serene lochs of the Highlands, the experts have shared the five best spots across the country:
- Rough Tor, Cornwall
- Queen's View, Scotland
- Hound Tor, Devon
- Orrest Head, Lake District
- Cleveland Way, Yorkshire
When it comes to watching the sunrise, be sure to research exactly when this should be in order to ensure you don't miss out. You should also prepare yourself for colder temperatures, even when in the heat of summer and pack accordingly.
