Check your Freeview TV now or miss out on two blockbuster new channels

If you have a Freeview TV in your living room, then now is a good time to make sure it's fully updated and retuned. It was confirmed late last week that two new channels have just been made available on the free-to-view platform, with the upgrade including movies and kids' TV.
Firstly, there's the addition of wedotv Movies UK, which moves from being an online-only service to a full over-the-air channel. That means all homes can now tune in even if they haven't got an internet-connected telly. This service shows back-to-back films with recent blockbusters, including One-Eyed Jacks, Willow Creek and The Way.
Next, there's that channel for younger members of the family. It's called Cartoon Classics and can be found on channel 214.
As the name suggests, the service offers classic animated programmes such as The Smurfs, Count Duckula, Sonic X, and Leo & Tig.
If that duo of channels sounds like something you fancy on your TV, then it's a good idea to head to the settings and make sure things are fully updated.
As Freeview explains, "On 22nd of October 2025, some broadcasters are making changes to their channels. You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date."
Along with the new channels, there is also one service that is getting a name change.
Gems TV on channel 45 is now switching over to Gemporia.
Freeview has issued advice on how to retune devices, and here are the steps every user needs to follow.
• Press menu on your box or TV remote control
• Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).
• Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
"Channels are constantly evolving on Freeview with individual channels making the decision to move, add or remove channels," Freeview added.
"Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content."
