My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 Ends in Heartbreak and Crisis for the Family

Since My Life With the Walter Boys debuted on Netflix in December 2023, viewers all over the world have become incredibly attached to protagonist Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez). Following the deaths of her parents and older sister, Jackie moves in with the Walter family, a rambunctious group consisting of seven live-in siblings and two cousins. (Jackie brings the count of kids in the Walter house to ten.)
The long-awaited second season hit the streaming service on August 28, and answered a ton of burning questions, including how Alex (Ashby Gentry) dealt with Jackie fleeing the farm for New York and whether Cole’s (Noah LaLonde) feelings for his brother’s girlfriend ever went away. (Spoiler: Not even a little bit.)
Below, we reveal what happens in the season 2 finale of My Life With the Walter Boys—and break down its many cliffhangers.
1) There are several developments in Jackie’s personal life. After failing her driving test within the first minute, Jackie is nervous to take the test again. Katherine waits outside of the test center, and gives Jackie a big hug after she emerges and announces that she’s passed her driving test on her second try. Also waiting outside is Jackie’s late mother’s car, a cute red Fiat 500, which her uncle Richard brought in from storage in New York just for her.
One of Jackie’s friendships also faces some difficulties in the season 2 finale. Grace (Ellie O’Brien) tells Jackie that her parents might be getting divorced. Visibly upset, Grace says, “I mean, maybe you should just pick a boy. Sorry. You know what? I would love it if my biggest problem was which hot boy likes me best.” Jackie apologizes profusely for being so consumed by her love triangle, and thanks Grace for all the ways she’s supported her throughout the school year. Luckily, their friendship appears to be back on track by the end of the episode.

At the Silver Falls Sparkle, Jackie is awarded the Young Sparkler Award, nominated by the junior class at Silver Falls High. The award highlights the incredible work Jackie has done during the year, including fundraising for the canceled fall formal and arranging an event in which students could meet with college representatives. Erin tells Jackie she should run for class president next year, as next time she’d likely win.
“You’re such a huge part of this community and our family,” Katherine tells Jackie later. “Thanks for coming back to us.”
Jackie replies, “Thank you for persuading me to come back to you.”
Dylan (Kolton Stewart), captain of the football team, fails a drug test and is told he won’t be able to play in the division finals. However, his dad pulls some strings and gets Dylan back on the team. After some stern words from Kiley (Mya Lowe), Dylan decides to do what’s right—instead of what his dad expects of him. “I have to take responsibility for what I did,” he tells Cole in the finale. “I can’t keep having my dad clean up my messes.”
After being confronted by his dad, Dylan exclaims that he shouldn’t be playing after failing a drug test, leading to his father bribing the school. “I should have to face the consequences,” Dylan says. Instead, Cole’s cousin Isaac takes Dylan’s place on the team.
When the team’s coach is called away when his wife goes into labor, Cole is placed in charge. Following a disastrous first half, Cole tells the players, “The best times of my life have been with this team, so I know we can do this.” Miraculously, Cole’s pep talk works, and the team wins the game, with Isaac scoring the winning touchdown.
3) Alex becomes a professional rodeo rider.Throughout season 2, Alex is coached by rodeo champion B. Hartford (Natalie Sharp). Despite Alex turning down her romantic advances in order to secretly date Jackie, B. introduces Alex to her father, who has the potential to help him become a professional rodeo rider by sponsoring him. After a successful audition, Alex is hired, suggesting his rodeo career will take off in a big way in season 3.
B. congratulates Alex, hugging him, and telling him, “You know what this means? We’re teammates now.” Alex turns down an invite to get drinks with the rest of the rodeo riders, instead opting to visit Jackie at the Silver Falls Sparkle. But as B. walks away, she tells Alex she’ll see him soon (in an incredibly flirty tone).

At the Silver Falls Sparkle, Alex tells Jackie his positive news and kisses her. She pulls away, clearly concerned someone might see them. She tells him they can talk about their relationship later that day.
4) The Silver Falls Sparkle sparks romance—and splits.Exes Nathan (Corey Fogelmanis) and Skylar (Jaylan Evans) come face to face at the Silver Falls Sparkle, where they can finally discuss the devastation caused by Zach (Carson MacCormac.) Having left Skylar for Zach, Nathan tells his ex, “Zach wants you back, you know? He was never really into me at all.” Skylar says he had tried to warn Nathan when Zach was seducing him. Nathan apologizes and reveals the insecurities he felt in their relationship, but says he understands that’s no excuse for his behavior. After declaring their love for each other, Skylar tells Nathan he nevertheless could never trust him again, and their relationship is over for good.
Dylan approaches Kiley at the Silver Sparkle and tells her he stood up to his dad—and won’t be playing in the football showcase. The pair kisses for the first time just as the Christmas lights are switched on, meaning their romance isn’t a secret for long.
Meanwhile, Danny (Connor Stanhope) and Erin (Alisha Newton) discuss their future together. “We’re so young, and I think we might be headed in different directions,” Erin tells Danny, before saying, “I don’t want to be the girl that held you back.” They agree to put their differences behind them and appreciate their relationship in the present, rather than worrying about the future.
5) Jackie proclaims her love for Cole, and Alex overhears.Jackie confronts Cole about ignoring her after he hides his SAT scores from her, so she follows him outside. A serious conversation ensues: Jackie begs Cole to be honest with her, which is when she finds out that he knows about her secret romance with Alex. “I was giving you space, like you asked, but I thought we had something,” he tells her. “I’ve been racking my brain trying to understand why you’d be with my brother again.”
After being pressed for answers, Jackie reveals why she’s been resisting her feelings for Cole. “I can’t be with someone who makes me feel the way that you make me feel,” she tells him.
Cole tells Jackie he loves her, saying, “I thought you felt the same way, but if I’m wrong, then just...just say it.” That’s when Jackie says it back: “I love you.”
But afterwards, she tells him, “When we kissed before, it was the only time that I’ve ever stopped thinking about everything...like I was out of control, and I can’t have that, Cole. I can’t. I can’t lose control.” Cole asks Jackie why, and she says, “I don’t know what might happen if I do.” Just as they’re about to kiss, it’s revealed that Alex has been listening to their entire conversation.

“My read is that Alex knows that she loves Cole the whole time—but obviously, people have different opinions on that,” Gentry, who plays Alex, told Netflix’s Tudum. Meanwhile, LaLonde, who plays Cole, told the outlet, “There is such a payoff in getting to say those things out loud...These words only come with frustration because they’ve been kept inside this jar of secrecy for so long.”
6) Crisis strikes the Walter family. Will (Johnny Link) feels completely lost after his his dad, George (Marc Blucas), pulls out of the deal to turn the Walter farm into a luxury accommodation site. “I really wanted it to work,” Will tells his wife, Hayley (Zoë Soul). “Now it’s just gone. And my dad took it away.” Hayley reassures him, saying, “There is a whole world out there, and we haven’t seen any of it. What if this town is just too small for your big ideas?”
Arriving at the Walter house that night, Will is surprised to learn his dad has been out on the top field all afternoon. Just as Alex interrupts Cole and Jackie’s conversation, Will rides over on an ATV as ambulances approach with their sirens blaring. “It’s Dad,” Will tells the trio, but no further details are revealed about George’s condition, leaving viewers with a huge cliffhanger to be resolved in season 3.
“I wanted a big finale, and I was always working towards that scene between Jackie, Cole, and Alex,” creator and showrunner Melanie Halsall told Tudum. “I also always had the idea in my head that the family would have this big crisis, and it would probably be around George.”
