Increase in searches for Greek islands by Turkish tourists

New data from online booking portal Hotels.com reveals that the popularity of the Greek islands is increasing year-on-year.

As summer heats up, Turkish travelers are turning their attention to the Greek islands. According to the latest data, searches for Greek island destinations have increased, with five islands emerging as top choices for July and August 2025.

Search data reveals that Greece was the most popular international destination for Turkish travelers in the summer of 2025, with searches increasing by 15 percent compared to the previous year.

The top 5 Greek islands most searched by Turkish travelers in 2025:

Santorini (50% increase from 2024) Samos (25% increase from 2024) Kos (15% increase from 2024) Lesvos (5% increase from 2024) Rhodes (5% increase from 2024)

These islands continue to attract Turkish tourists with their proximity, simplified visa-on-arrival programs, and beaches. Rhodes and Kos are a short ferry ride from the Turkish coast, Santorini and Samos are a 1-2 hour flight from Istanbul , and Lesbos is a 1.5-hour ferry ride from Ayvalık .
