Giant companies were sued

X and xAI filed a lawsuit in federal court, arguing that Apple's decision to integrate OpenAI into the smartphone iPhone's operating system "harms competition and deprives consumers of choice."
The lawsuit filed in Texas alleges that Apple and OpenAI have locked down the market to maintain their monopolies and prevent innovative companies like X and xAI from competing.
The lawsuit states that Apple and OpenAI are seeking legal action to "stop their anti-competitive schemes" and "recover billions of dollars in damages."
The lawsuit also alleged that Apple refrained from featuring the X app and the xAI-developed artificial intelligence chatbot Grok in its app store due to its exclusive agreement with OpenAI.
DESIGNED TO BE "FAIR AND UNBIASED"An OpenAI spokesperson said the lawsuit was "consistent with Musk's ongoing pattern of harassment."
An Apple spokesperson also defended the App Store, saying it was designed to be "fair and unbiased" and that it presents apps "using objective criteria, expert-curated lists, algorithmic recommendations, and rankings."
This month, Musk wrote on the account of the US-based X company, "Apple is behaving in a way that makes it impossible for any artificial intelligence company other than OpenAI to reach number 1 in the App Store, and this is a clear antitrust violation," and stated that xAI would take legal action.
