Psychologists guided him, his life changed

Psychologists guided him, his life changed

Tanın, who received support, house cleaning and assistance within the scope of the Vefa Support Project, was brought to meet with psychologists at the District Governorate with the guidance of the foundation staff. Having found the opportunity to share the difficulties she was experiencing, Tanın began drawing pictures with the guidance of the doctors who learned of her interest in art.

Tanın, who received material support from the district governorship, improved himself in a short time and produced 155 charcoal drawings and landscape paintings. Decorating the walls of his house with his drawings, Tanın began to feel better psychologically and to participate more in social life thanks to his passion for painting.

Tanın, who is now working towards his biggest dream of opening a painting exhibition, presented the charcoal portrait he made to District Governor Murat Karaloğlu, who has always supported him.

"I AM MORE PEACEFUL WHEN I DRAW"

Tanın told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that he had been living alone for three years, that he had previously taken walks to avoid feeling this, and that his life had changed thanks to the foundation staff. Explaining that he began drawing at the direction of the staff, Tanın said, "They pushed us to draw to keep us busy and pass the time. First, I had open-heart surgery. Then, when my family left me, I became depressed and traumatized. These developments made me even sicker. My forgetfulness worsened. I started forgetting everything. I started having trouble going anywhere."

Tanın, who stated that he wasn't feeling well psychologically and was going through a difficult time, said: "Now, with the support of our principals and the District Governor's Office, I've started drawing. While drawing, I've started to forget my troubles and psychological problems. We pushed our illnesses to the background a little more. It took us a while to improve ourselves. Now, when I paint, I forget a lot of things. When I'm busy drawing, my time is also wasted. Loneliness is very difficult because sometimes there are moments when we don't talk for two or three days, but when I draw at home, I forget everything. I feel a little relieved, I feel more at peace. We got rid of many troubles and shared our loneliness in those paintings."

Tanın, who stated that teams from the district governor's office clean his house and bring him daily meals, said, "They help us with everything. They take us to the doctor. If we can't go, they get our medications. They never leave me alone. May God bless them. Drawing pictures was my childhood dream. Now we are happy to open an art exhibition. I thank our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his support of the elderly and the disabled. When I started drawing, the first thing that came to mind was drawing his portrait. I want to give it to him as a gift if he ever comes to our hometown."
