Are you dating a psychopath? Scientists reveal the most important sign

In a study conducted by experts from the Hochschule Döpfer University of Applied Sciences, approximately 500 adults participated in various surveys. The findings showed that psychopathy scores increased as men, in particular, engaged in more frequent sexual encounters through dating apps. Psychopathy is characterized by traits such as a lack of empathy and remorse, manipulative behavior, superficial charm, impulsivity, and recklessness. The researchers noted that men with this personality type tend to be more strategic in targeting vulnerable individuals and achieving success in short-term relationships.

Thirty-one percent of participants said they had dated through apps like Tinder. However, there was a significant gender gap in the rate of engaging in sexual intercourse with people they met online. According to the study, two-thirds of those who had sex through dating apps were men.

The study also found that women who had sexual experiences through these platforms were more likely to be satisfied with their choices than those who hadn't. Experts suggest this may be because women are more careful when choosing partners through messaging and more willing to accept disappointment when meeting in person.

"Women who reported initiating relationships through dating apps lowered their standards compared to those who didn't experience 'Tinder sex.' We attribute this to the fact that after investing time and effort in messaging, the decision to pursue a relationship during the meeting was already made," Dr. Lennart Freyth, the study's lead author, told PsyPost. The results were published in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking.
