Leaving one leg outside the blanket helps you fall asleep faster — this is the conclusion reached by experts whose work is published in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology (JPA). Russian media suggests that this method of falling asleep be used by compatriots who have problems with sleep,
Researchers explain the effect by the body's thermoregulation features. In order for the brain to give the "command" to sleep, the body temperature must drop slightly, which simultaneously stimulates the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. Feet, and especially soles, are good at dissipating heat due to the abundance of blood vessels. When one foot is exposed to cool air, heat transfer increases, the body's core temperature drops, and a person falls asleep faster.
The convenience of the method is that it does not require any special preparation: it is enough to slightly lift the edge of the blanket. Thus, the widespread habit of "airing" the leg has received scientific confirmation and can become part of the arsenal of evening rituals.
Social media users often share their experiences, calling the technique their “night life hack,” although they admit that sometimes childhood fears, insects, or pets get in the way, which is why they have to hide their leg under the covers again.
Previously, calorie-reducing diets have been linked to extremely unpleasant consequences.
